What happened

Phnom Penh was never a strong route: refusals here ran level with approvals — the worst picture among the consulates that were working, and at the highest fee in the system, $400. The flow stopped for good after November 2025: amid restrictions on visa runs through Cambodia and a cooling in Thai–Cambodian relations, the consulate effectively stopped approving applications — there have been no new approvals in our records since the beginning of 2026.

What it means

The consulate is marked closed in our base: the formal option to file remains, but the numbers leave no argument for using it. The Cambodian route was popular because of how close it is to Thailand — today the same logistics work through Vientiane.

The state of every consulate is on the live board.
